Orioles Talk Breaking News: Orioles Ace John Means throws 11th No-Hitter in Franchise History

Baltimore Orioles pitcher John Means threw a no-hitter against the Seattle Mariners Wednesday at Safeco Park.

It was the Orioles’ first no-hitter since 1991 and the first completed by one pitcher since Hall of Famer Jim Palmer accomplished the feat in 1969.

Means finished the game going nine innings, with zero walks, and a career-high 12 strikeouts.  He was a passed ball away from the 24th perfect game in MLB history.

In the third inning, Means struck out Sam Haggerty, but catcher Pedro Severino let the ball pass by him and Haggerty reached first base.

For a team that has been comically bad in the past few years, the Orioles have actually been playing with heart and quality.

This no-hitter is a glimmer of hope to a franchise that has needed a boost in recent years.
