Fangio, Harbaugh exchange words after Ravens Win

The Baltimore Ravens defeated the Denver Broncos 23-7 Sunday at Port Authority Field.  Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson displayed his passing ability as he threw for 316 yards and one touchdown.  Yet, Jackson still made national headlines for one particular run, and it was a controversial one.

On the last play of the game, the Denver Broncos expected a kneel-down.  Instead, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh told Jackson to run the ball for five more yards.  Before the run, the Ravens had only 97 yards rushing in the game, but the additional five yards gave them 102 yard to end the game.

With the run, the Ravens tied a record 43 straight games rushing for 100 or more yards.  The record stood for over 35 years.  Broncos head coach Vic Fangio did not care about the record and was seen cursing out the Ravens sideline following the five-yard quarterback sweep.

After the game, Harbaugh admitted that the play was “100 percent” his call.

The following day, hard feelings continued to linger between the two coaches.

Fangio said the call was “bullsh**” and that he expected it from the Ravens, claiming that they have no care about player safety.  He also said that he has never seen anything so classless in 37 years of coaching football.

Harbaugh retorted by saying that he was not going to buy into that insult, and that the Broncos continued to drive down the field with 10 seconds left despite the game being all but over.

“I don’t know if there is a 16-point touchdown possible right there,” Harbaugh said.  “So that didn’t have anything to do with winning the game.”
